We’re standing down in honor of the day but it appears there’s stuff exploding and booming and crashing this Memorial Day.
Yes, we’ve had a couple of Thunder Runners trying to dodge police on our local highways and other tales of folks mixing it up in various ways over our Holiday. Remember, this weekend is for grilling and family, a beer or two and a toast to those who didn’t make it back…
This was reported near 3707 Mt. Diablo Blvd. today and we’ve heard of some detonations or “booming” going on over there, too, possibly the result of some pranksters playing with pyrotechnics. The operator of this vehicle was allegedly running from Orinda PD after officers responded to a call of a shoplifter at the CVS in Orinda. A short pursuit resulted, Orinda Police Chief Mark Nagel told us, and ended with the suspect crashing the truck in Lafayette as you see.
Richard Pal, 27, from Oakland was taken into custody and, unfortunately for him, also had an outstanding warrant out of Solano County.
For the record, we’re standing down this weekend in honor of the ancestors but we will be back at it again hard tomorrow.
Whoa. So much for nice quiet weekend.
We just made a Memorial Day Breakfast for our resident veteran… now making him do a little close order drill for exercise!
Don’t these people know it’s Memorial Day?
Good question, Anthony. Sometimes we are left wondering…
No respect. Hard to believe we all live in the same country.
There should be an extra penalty for crimes committed on Memorial Day.
We’d have no arguments with that, Siobhan.
Somebody thought they could outrun the police in THAT truck?
We’re told it’s a McLaren in disguise.
You guys are the best!
Please, you don’t want to further inflate our already-inflated egos! Many thanks!
At least he won’t be using that truck again.
Unless he’s REALLY good with the bondo and a blowtorch!
No worries, even with a outstanding warrant this suspect will be released shortly.
