UPDATE: Fire declared under control at 7:48 p.m.
ORIGINAL STORY: Several motor homes are burning at 2470 Franklin Canyon Road in Martinez Wednesday, with firefighters calling for help in providing protection for other nearby buildings.
A blaze consuming one motor home and approximately 1/4 acre of grass and brush was first reported at 6:34 p.m. A second alarm summoning more equipment and firefighters was called a short time later as fire commanders on the scene moved to halt the fire’s spread.
Six motor homes are currently burning (6:59 p.m.), with firefighters hampered by exploding propane tanks in the stricken area. Local railroad lines have been advised of smoky conditions over their tracks.

I knew they were magnets for tornadoes, but apparently they are unsafe at any speed. Tough break!
