Martinez police are looking for a man who robbed a 7Eleven store at 530 Morello Avenue at gunpoint Thursday, striking a clerk with his gun and fleeing with an undetermined amount of money.
The robbery was reported at 6:25 p.m. Officers were told a man of undetermined race entered the store with a hoodie pulled up to hide his features, displaying a revolver and demanding money.
A store employee was reportedly struck by the gunman during the encounter. The man then fled the store, last seen heading north on Morello Avenue.
Chain convenience stores all use cash drop safes that the clerk can’t open. Prob no more than a couple hundred bucks in the drawer, max. Probably better off stealing their cigarettes. Crazy that crooks would do an armed robbery + firearm enhancement + battery (gotta be serious time) for those stakes. Dumb. I feel bad for the clerk– I assume he’s not getting paid enough to face down violent crooks.
On foot or by car? That 7/11 has a gas station and good cameras. Any pictures?
@Danielle – No car seen, that we’ve been told about. And if we get any video or stills, we’ll certainly run them.
