On Sunday, April 29th at 2pm, the Lafayette Veterans Memorial Building will host a dedication ceremony for a new monument to honor the 22 members of the Armed Forces from Contra Costa County who have lost their lives in service to our country since 9/11.
The Lafayette War Veterans, an umbrella organization comprised of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8063 and American Legion Post 517 will host the ceremony to honor the Fallen Heroes and their families who will be in attendance that day to unveil the new 7-ton granite monument.
Featured speakers at the ceremony will include Congressman Mark DeSaulnier, Assembly members Catharine Baker and Timothy Grayson, State Senator Steve Glazer, Supervisor Candace Andersen and Mayors Don Tatzin of Lafayette and Amy Worth of Orinda.

22. Thats really sad and I say we honor every one. Remember them all.
Very few of us have been touched deeply by America’s longest running war. Some of us know men and women who were deployed and a few know people who were wounded or maybe even killed. I can’t think of any of them without crying and I pray they are all home and honored and their wounds tended. It’s time we stopped playing global police officers.
