approximately 6:52 p.m. Thursday Madjour “violently and unexpectedly attacked the victim” – inflicting life-threatening wounds to the head.

Detectives said Madjour and 60-year-old Harry Swayne III of San Pablo knew each other and were both working as security guards at the construction site. Arriving officers and medical personnel worked to save Swayne, but said he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Madjour was taken into custody at the scene and the suspected murder weapon, a long metal pole, was taken into evidence.

Madjour was arrested for murder and transported to the John Muir Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries. It was not revealed how he sustained those injuries. Madjour was ultimately transported to the Martinez Detention Facility where he was booked and is currently being held on $1,000,000 bail.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call Walnut Creek Police Department Detective Sergeant Andy Brown at 925-256-3553.

  1. Walnut Creek is changing fast, and not for the good. It seems it started 2 years ago that I started seeing a lot more street people along with the homeless and suspicious looking types started hanging around.
I fear it’s only going to get much worse!

  2. Was this a incident between transients or “locals?” In the absence of mental health and/or drug issues, its hard to imagine what went down.

    • @Chris – That and other questions being asked, Chris. Investigation still in the formative stages but we hope to have more later today.

  3. I was wondering if this was two transients myself. This was across the street from the Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church. Anything going on at the church last evening?

  4. What a heartbreaker. Sixty years old working as a construction site security guard, and you get beaten to death by a co-worker with a metal pipe!?! In Walnut Creek? Deep condolences to family and friends of the victim.

  5. It would be interesting to find out how many crimes have been perpetrated by security guards. is it just me or does it seem they have been involved in some serious crimes?

    • @Tim – Hmm. We can think of a couple of major crimes, Tim. Interesting thought, with proximity to weapons, control of their space, and familiarity with police procedure coming to mind as possible contributors – though if you boil it down you’d probably find them no more culpable than any other sector of the population.

It is worse! People who look like YOU and ME are killing people. Your prediction model is not so good.
