The Red Cross has been called on to find shelter for four people displaced by a one-alarm fire that burned through a single-family home on Springbrook Road near Walnut Creek early Tuesday morning.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials said the fire was reported at 3:50 a.m. in the 1400 block of Springbrook Road – an unincorporated Contra Costa County near Walnut Creek. Firefighters were able to control the fire in about 30 minutes.
Witnesses said the house is a total loss. One of the residents suffered minor smoke inhalation before escaping and no other injuries were reported.
Investigators were called to the scene, but have not yet pinpointed the cause of the fire.
Neighbors report traffic in the area is still somewhat restricted, with at least one advising that motorists avoid the area entirely until salvage operations can be undertaken.
