A 33-year-old Walnut Creek man faces charges of attempted murder with enhancements after a police officer reportedly witnessed him deliberately strike two pedestrians with his car as they were in a Walnut Creek crosswalk Tuesday evening.

As this site reported at the time, an officer was in the 2700 block of N. Main Street when Benjamin Jaeger allegedly steered his car into the two pedestrians at 7:23 p.m.

Walnut Creek police conducted an enforcement stop and detained Jaeger, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Based on the driver’s statement and the eye-witness account of the incident by the officer, Jaeger was arrested for 664/187 PC, attempt homicide. He was then transported to the Contra Costa County Jail in Martinez where he was booked.

The victims were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and were later released, according to police.

Anyone with additional information concerning this incident is asked to contact Detective G. Leonard at (925) 256-3523.

  1. I’m always watching drivers while I’m in a crosswalk. Some of them are just plain nuts.

  2. Was this a hate crime? A terrorist attack? Could we please get more information on the motive behind this crime? Hope this heinous event doesn’t get buried.

  3. Some people feel tough behind the wheel but when you could encounter them face-to-face you will recognize who the real Beast is. When you mess with a man that’s one thing but when you mess with a man’s girlfriend. You can cut your life short.

  4. All the information that you need about this situation is for you to know today amen was so much of a coward who took the power of a vehicle to head to innocent pedestrians on purpose. This situation will definitely get there. And that is a promise to you
