Members of Orinda’s Meadow Swim Club were looking for a way to help raise money on behalf of first responders and those affected by the devastating North Bay Fires and – since most of them are part fish anyway – they decided to hold a money-raising Swim-A-Thon Friday.
Swimmers contacted supporters who pledged a certain amount of cash for laps completed and, after an initial show of support indicated interest from the membership, it was everyone into the pool.
They’re still counting up the change but organizers said the marathon is expected to have raised approximately $30,000 destined to help those whose lives were so profoundly affected by the fires in Napa and Sonoma counties.
So here’s a big NEWS24/680 Thumbs Up for all swimmers and their supporters! Any submitted photos of swimmers would be proudly displayed here.
