From the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation:
Danville — The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation (SRVEF) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2017 grants. Together with the SRVEF Endowment and DonorsChoose.org, SRVEF has awarded 199 grants totalling $213,668 in awards to teachers in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD).
Over the past several weeks, the SRVEF grants committee has read and reviewed a total 261 grants submitted from SRVUSD schools. Grants were scored based on merit alone. By partnering with DonorsChoose.org for the application process, external supporters and external matching funds helped to extend the SRVEF grant funding this year. SRVEF awarded 161 SRVEF-DonorsChoose.org grants; 12 SRVEF endowment music grants, and 10 SRVEF endowment science grants.
In addition, a minimum of $1,000 is being awarded to each school from this year’s Run for Education and San Ramon Rotary Online Auction for Education proceeds. This card may be applied to an existing grant for their school on DonorsChoose.org or on a new grant that a teacher at the site submits. Administrators are not eligible to apply for a DonorsChoose.org grant. Therefore, a teacher must submit the DonorsChoose.org request for item(s) that the principal will authorize.
Unfunded teacher grants will remain active on the DonorsChoose.org website for approximately two more months during which time the grants may continue to receive external funding. If a grant is not fully funded by the expiration date, any external money pledged is returned to the donor.
Items to be purchased for the teacher grants through DonorsChoose.org will be fulfilled by DonorsChoose.org and sent to the warehouse for distribution. Music and science grants will be ordered and shipped through the District’s purchase order system. SRVEF will be working closely with the District’s business department to ensure the Science and Music grant funds are appropriately transferred; grant recipients will receive specific information about how to submit purchase orders and the timeline to follow for compliance with the grant guidelines.
Based on the SRVEF funding criteria, only one grant per teacher was eligible to be considered. Grants requesting technology such as iPads and Chromebooks were not eligible for SRVEF funding since the Technology Initiative provided funding to all schools in 2017 for student devices.
Please see the table below for results. Any questions may be directed to grants@srvef.org.

About the San Ramon Valley Unified School District
Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District stands among the highest-achieving school districts in California. It encompasses the communities of Alamo, Blackhawk, Danville, Diablo, and San Ramon (including the new Dougherty Valley communities in east San Ramon) as well as a small portion of the cities of Walnut Creek and Pleasanton. Considered a “destination district” due to its strong reputation for academic excellence, businesses and families chose to move to the area for its schools. With approximately 32,000 students, the District has a 98.4% graduation rate. Almost 40% of students are enrolled in an Advanced Placement course and 95% of graduates plan to attend college.
