  1. I fear that these crimes are going to become all too common given the prescription drug addiction epidemic that exists in our country. Just as banks have policies to hand out marked bills or dye packs, pharmacies will need to develop similar security devices.

    • @Tom – Some of us were just discussing that, Tom, as some tactics have been brought to bear to help fight this scourge – only to force those dependent on the drugs to find new, more direct methods to get what they need.

  2. Give them the drugs. You never know if they’re armed or not. It’s not worth it – trying to play cop, judge, jury and execution. I’m glad no one was hurt.

    • @T – Thanks, but we’re stealing your name – BaitLax. Here’s the slogan: “BaitLax… Thieves will regret ever setting foot in your store!”

  3. Maybe the drugstores should hand over a super laxative labeled as the narcotic they’re being robbed for. That might end the chase really quickly

    • @Greg – Hey! That was our idea! Just mark the dose “Oxycodone” and keep it handy. When they come in demanding opioids, hand it over and stand back to watch the fun. You have to be creative these days ;-}

  4. My pharmacist says kids used to call in impersonating their parents and asking for Oxy all the time. It sounds pretty deep.

    • @Bob – According to FBI crime statistics crime is down substantially in most of our cities. But some high-profile cases are making people doubt that, apparently.
