From the Town Manager
August 28 was the 39th anniversary of the date I began my full time career as a public servant. On August 28, 1978, I was sworn in as a police officer for the City of Berkeley. On December 17, 1979 I was sworn in as one of the original members of the Moraga Police Department and promoted through all ranks until I became the Interim Chief of Police on December 18, 2008, and then appointed to the permanent position on April 22, 2009. I served as Chief of Police until I was appointed Interim Town Manager on February 1, 2016 and then appointed to the permanent position on October 1, 2016.
I am committed to working with the Council and staff to ensure as seamless a transition as possible with the selection of my successor. The actual date of my retirement will be determined once the Council identifies the Town Manager recruitment process. I delayed the publ ic announcement due to a planned vacation in Oregon and will welcome any inquiries when I return to the office on Tuesday, September 12.
I have experienced an unbelievably successful career for which I will be eternally grateful. In the almost 38 years of employment with the Town of Moraga, I have been provided many opportunities and challenges. I hope my legacy will show that I accepted and met each with distinction. The Town has received the very best I had to offer, and together with the Town Councils I have served, our incredible staff, and the greater community, we have created a lot of magic. It has been my honor to be a small part of it.
