Fire, possibly the result of a burning propane tank, heavily damaged two units in Rossmoor Saturday, prompting firefighters to call for a second alarm as the blaze was believed to be spreading.
This is written as the fire is burning (6:50 p.m.) Several Contra Costa County Consolidated Fire District units are at the scene. All occupants were believed to have made it out of the structure at 3222 Rossmoor Parkway, though firefighters briefly pushed inside in a search for anyone in distress.
The first firefighters on the scene were met by heavy smoke and fire, and bystanders reported a propane tank on fire on the balcony of the building prior to their arrival.
Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the fire but what, if any, injuries were incurred were not immediately known. A final check determined that no one was seriously injured in this fire.
A preliminary damage estimate was put at $500,000.
Police are on scene for traffic control.
