Join your neighbors to meet some of the finest law enforcement and first responders as part of National Night Out at the Alhambra Christmas Tree Farm on Tuesday, August 1.
Neighborhood Watch organizers, Pete Sabine, Michael Moore and Lori O’Brien, are partnering with their neighbors and local law enforcement for National Night Out.
The event will be at the Alhambra Christmas Tree Farm at 2647 Reliez Valley Road, Martinez, from 6 pm to 9 pm. The event is free, and all are welcome. This year, the Food Bank of Contra Costa – Solano will benefit from a fundraising food drive at the event. Attendees who bring a food donation will receive a free raffle ticket to the main event prize raffle at 7:30 pm.
Several first responders will be at the event, including Martinez Police Department, Contra Costa Fire Protection District, American Medical Response, East Bay Parks Regional Police, the California Highway Patrol, and the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff. A BBQ food truck, face painting for the kids, ice cream sandwiches (sold by a local Boy Scout pack) and free bicycle safety information for parents.
There will be dancing to the live music by the Jinx Jones and Mitch Polzak, the Steel Smokin’ BBQ food truck, beer tasting, ice cream treats from local Boy Scouts, safety demonstrations from local law enforcement agencies, CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) disaster preparedness information, child ID program information, displays from local fire department and other emergency first-responders, face painting fun, and an animal petting zoo.
National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event in the U.S., held the first Tuesday of August. The event has been held annually since 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada. The “Night” is meant to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, town watch, neighborhood watch, and other anti-crime efforts.
Last year over 500 community residents attended this NNO event. For more information or to RSVP go to www.NationalNightOut2017.eventbrite.com or call Pete Sabine (925) 297-5335.
