A lone motorcyclist was killed and two bicyclists injured in separate crashes in the San Ramon Valley Wednesday night.

Passersby observed a male motorcyclist lying in the crosswalk at Camino Tassajara and Sycamore Valley Road around 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, unresponsive and with an apparent head injury. Witnesses reported seeing the man’s helmet in the roadway some feet away.

Lt. Allan Shields said the rider was driving west when he apparently lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. The driver was seriously injured in the crash and was treated by paramedics from the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District before being pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The rider was identified as Juan Gomez, 21, of Revere, Mass.

Later in the evening, around 9:15 p.m., two bicyclists were found down with significant injuries on Blackhawk Road near Hidden Oak Dr. Once again, local police and firefighters arrived to render aid, calling for a helicopter to take one of the cyclists to a local hospital.

As of this writing (9:44 a.m. Thursday) NEWS24/680 has had no update of their condition or on a statement by a possible witness that a black BMW was seen leaving the area where the cyclists were later found at a high rate of speed.

We’ll post new information on these stories as we get it in.
