A chance license plate alert by the Town of Danville’s Automatic License Plate Reader system (ALPR) led to the arrest of a man wanted for strong arm robbery in Lafayette Thursday afternoon.

Danville police were on patrol at approximately 4:47 pm when their ALPR system “read” the plate of a vehicle used earlier during a strong arm robbery in Lafayette, spokesman Geoff Gillette told NEWS24/680.

The suspect car was last seen heading east on Sycamore Valley road near Camino Ramon. A search of the area turned up the car in the Safeway parking lot. A guns drawn, felony stop was executed and a man was detained at the scene by Danville officers.

He was subsequently turned over to Lafayette police, according to Gillette. We’ll update this story with additional details when we get them.
