Danville’s 14th annual Lend a Hand Day, set for Saturday April 29, 2017, is an event designed to provide help to local Danville seniors with basic yard clean up. The Town of Danville, along with an estimated 150 volunteers from the community join forces to provide this service, helping neighbors in need. The event begins with a brief orientation at the Danville Community Center and runs from 8am – 1pm. Volunteers, 15 years and up, are encouraged to register at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LendaHand2017.
Seniors who have basic repair or yard work tasks that they would like some help with can turn in applications up until April 8, 2017. For more information, contact the Danville Community Center at (925) 314-3400.
For those who can’t make it out on Lend A Hand Day, don’t worry. There are plenty of other volunteer opportunities available throughout the year. Volunteers are always sought for events like Eggstravaganza, May the Fourth Be with You, Kids Night Out or at facilities like the Danville Senior Center and the Village Theatre & Art Gallery. Volunteering is great for your health, keeps your mind and body active, and allows you to give back to our community.
All the opportunities are listed online. Visit www.danville.ca.gov/volunteer for more information. Community Service hours can be earned for volunteering.
