Valley firefighters and shutterbugs were kept busy Monday as a small flurry of minor collisions triggered some not-so-minor water fountains – the sheared hydrants almost acceptable now that we are out of our drought.
A semi-truck clipped a hydrant outside the San Ramon Home Depot Monday morning, and reader James Edward was in the neighborhood when another accident touched off this gusher in the 400 block of Diablo Rd. in Danville just after lunch.
The latest geyser resulted in some localized flooding and also came uncomfortably close to some power lines in the area – proximity that forced the closure of the Diablo Road offramp as PG&E crews worked to secure those lines.
The drought is officially over right??
We’re out of town! We miss all the fun!!
This just saved me a trip to The Bellagio!
@G.F. – No truth to the rumor that lights and a laser show were briefly considered!
So about 30 feet? 35?
Think that would be in there! May be a little under that…
Still hard to see that water running into the gutter. I’m just wired that way I suppose….
@Sabrina – Totally understand! We still have to fight the urge to run and place a bucket under any spillage!
