San Ramon police are searching for a man who entered the US Bank branch at 2821 Crow Canyon Monday, briefly taking a hostage before making off with an undetermined amount of cash.

Police determined the suspect entered the bank at approximately 11:59 a.m., contacting several bank tellers and demanding money, telling them to give him large bills.  During the robbery, the suspect was observed to be in possession of a firearm, thought to be a revolver.  Prior to leaving the bank, the suspect directed one of the employees to accompany him out of the building.  The suspect walked with the employee for about 150 yards to a residential area at which point he directed her to return to the bank.

The suspect (pictured below) was described as a white male adult, approx. 40-45 years of age, with gray colored facial hair (stubble).  He was wearing a dark colored pea coat, gray hooded sweatshirt, black beanie, dark colored trousers and dark colored cotton or wool gloves.

Suspect Description
White male adult, 40 to 45-years-old, 5′ 10″ tall, medium build, last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt under a dark peacoat, black beanie hat, dark colored trousers and dark colored cotton or wool gloves. Unshaven, with grey colored facial hair. Believed armed with a silver or chrome revolver.

  1. “Are we taking hostages now?” was the quote from the movie, The Town. As it turned out, hostage taking was a bad idea. It’s the difference between time in prison and a lifetime in prison.

    • @David – … not to mention the wear and tear on the hostage. Glad this one worked out and no one was hurt. Going to have to dial up “The Town” again!
