A blown transformer in the area of Larch Avenue and Canyon Road knocked out power to the area Saturday morning, immobilized a person briefly surrounded by live power lines and made a resident’s lawn smoke.
The incident was first reported as a transformer pole on fire in the area around 9:08 a.m., with Moraga-Orinda Fire District and Moraga police responding to find live wires down in the area and residents reporting a variety of issues related to the sudden, resultant blackout.
Homeowners were advised to stay in their residences while PG&E was summoned to power down the lines. An accurate count of the number of homes blacked out in the area was not immediately available. If you’re reading this, let us know if you’re still online and if your neighbor is in the dark or not.
No injuries reported. A PG&E repair crew was on the scene at 9:55 a.m. and power was restored for most homeowners by around 10:15 a.m.
