Moraga’s Last Remaining OC – Original Cop – Pulls The Pin; Priebe Retires From Moraga PD

A lot of people thought they’d never see the day Moraga’s last remaining original police officer and current – if titular – police chief would call it quits.

But Chief Bob Priebe did it today, Friday, surrendering his badge after 37 years on the mean streets of Moraga. We’ve placed a recent photo of the chief next to the class photo of MoTown Coppers from 1980 and, aside from the uniform change and diminished facial hair, you can see that his years of service to the town have hardly changed him at all.

Former Lieutenant and Acting Chief Jon King moves into the chief’s seat Oct. 1. King is promoting Sgt. Brian South to Lieutenant.

Priebe, who can wear a suit and a uniform, has served as Interim Town Manager for Moraga since Febr. 1 of this year. He assumes the mantle of Town Manager, as appointed by the town council, effective Oct. 1.
