Blackout! Transformer Pops In Moraga, Northeast Danville, Alamo In The Dark

We’re not quite sure if they are 100 percent related at this stage but several readers in Alamo and Danville are reporting that their power went out at about the time a transformer blew behind Rancho Laguna Park in Moraga.

Firefighters found the transformer and a small plot of ground on fire upon arrival at the scene of the fire at 7:29 p.m.

At 7:34 p.m. we started hearing from Danville-Alamo residents dining by solar lighting – as this picture from the Holthuis family demonstrates – and the folks at PG&E have been notified to make the necessary repairs.

San Ramon Valley Fire crews are chasing reports of outages, ringing alarms, and the smell of smoke on their side of the hills, as well.

Dinner by candlelight is romantic and good for strengthening family bonds, no?

  1. Truth be told, I love it when the power goes out. It was a fact of life where I grew up, where salt air and winds caused corrosion and frequent outages. The collection of hurricane lamps around the house weren’t just decorative. Unfortunately, everything’s working here in Orinda…

  2. I’d send you all a picture of our dinner but it’s so black in the house I can’t find my camera!
