Police in the South Kohala area of the Big Island of Hawaii are investigating the death of a 76-year-old Lafayette woman found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a Mauna Kea Beach Drive resort hotel.
Police were called to the resort at 3:40 p.m. Monday, August 29, and found Brenda Chodroff of Lafayette out of the pool with resort staff attempting cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. Fire Department personnel took over attempts to revive the victim but were unsuccessful, according to local reports.
Police have initiated a coroner’s inquest and ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of Chodroff’s death.
