Orinda Crime Files: Not-So-Social Networking, A Chase, And More

It was a busy week in Orinda as kids started filtering back into local schools and the waning days of summer ticked down. Through it all, the men and women of the Orinda police department continued doing what local police do on a daily basis:

Arrests

  • Aug. 23 – 2:47 p.m., Battery, 20 block of Acacia Dr.
  • Aug. 25 – 3:46 p.m., Possession of Controlled Substance, CVS
  • Aug. 26 – 2:12 a.m., Warrants, Camino Pablo at Monte Vista Rd.
  • Aug. 27 – 12:06 p.m., Petty Theft, CVS

Extortion

  • Aug. 23 – 11:42 a.m., 100 block of Meadow Lane. Police say an unknown suspect attempted to extort $15,000 from the victim. The suspect posted a link to a video online from Facebook page, and said they would release the video if the victim did not donate $15,000 to a child facility in Africa. There are no suspects, witnesses, or leads.

Pursuit

  • Aug. 22 – 10:52 a.m., (Failure to Obey, Evasion), Orinda police initiated pursuit of a stolen Gray Subaru Impreza . The stolen vehicle was occupied by three unidentified black males. The pursuit was terminated after losing sight of the vehicle in Lafayette. Police said their car(s) trailed the suspects for 9.7 miles before losing sight of them.

Auto Burglary

  • Aug. 27 – 9:05 a.m., 60 block of Scenic Dr.

ID Theft

  • Aug. 24 – 4:28 p.m., 500 block of Dalewood Dr.
