It has been something of a contentious week in the 24/680 and even normally sedate Orinda was not able to escape the nuttiness, it appears. Here now, major incidents from the OPD crime blotter:
Arrests
- Aug. 18 – 7:30 p.m., (Threaten Police Officer) 30 block of Underhill Rd.
- Aug. 19 – 12:12 p.m., (Battery on Police Officer), Theatre Square: Robert Daniel Chavez, 49, of Antioch arrested after allegedly shoplifting from CVS, leading police on a chase through the parking garage at Theatre Square and allegedly punching one officer in the face (minor injuries).
- Aug. 19 – 1:54 p.m., (Arrest on Warrants), Starbucks
Burglary
- Aug. 15 – 7:59 a.m., (Miscellaneous Burglary), 300 block of Camino Pablo
Petty Theft
- Aug. 18 – 2:41 p.m., (Purse Shoplift) CVS
Petty Theft from Vehicle
- Aug. 20 – 3:42 p.m., 20 block of Camino Don Miguel
Identity Theft
- Aug. 15 – 12:57 a.m., Bank of America
- Aug. 16 – 11:24 p.m., 20 block of Orinda Way
- Aug. 17 – 3:38 p.m., 40 block of Sleepy Hollow Lane
Accident Investigation
- Aug. 20 – 10:33 a.m., 20 block of El Toyonal

Thank gosh….. I was beginning to wonder if my sense of humor meter was off or something.
I’d be interested in knowing if the cops are seeing people more willing to fight them lately. More willing than previously that is. It seems that people are feeling more entitled to resist now and is that a result of current sentiment or is it false impression?
