This weekend was a good one for picking fruit and several dedicated souls turned out to participate in Moraga’s Annual Pear Harvest.
Karen Reed, one of the organizers of the town’s annual pear festival said between five and six thousand pounds of pears were picked on Saturday and that volunteers expect that number to reach eight thousand by the end of picking time Sunday.
Those pears that don’t end up in locally produced pies offered up at the Pear Festival go to a local food bank – so lots of people win today.
