Walnut Creek Police Detain Auto Burglary Suspect; Search For Two More Off Warren Road Monday

SHARE

Residents of the Saranap neighborhood hunkered down Monday after a police pursuit ended in a crash and an extensive search for two outstanding suspects in the area of Warren Road and Allendale.

Police said officers initiated a pursuit on a carload of suspected auto burglars around 3 p.m. Monday, terminating the pursuit out of concern for public safety. A police spokesman said the car fleeing from police crashed on the Olympic Blvd. offramp from southbound I-680 minutes after the pursuit was called off.

One person, believed to be the driver, was taken into custody while two more escaped into the surrounding neighborhood and were last seen jumping fences in the area of Warren Road and Allendale Court.

At least one police canine team is in the area and a California Highway Patrol helicopter is overhead in an effort to locate the suspects, police said.

Police are looking into reports from neighbors that the two outstanding suspects were picked up by a driver who cruised through the neighborhood around 4:40 p.m.

  1. The TV news this morning just reported that there’s been a large spike in violent crime in this country. I’m personnaly alarmed by the increasing crime locally too.
Could this all have to do with the current administration’s soft on crime approach?
I’m sorry, but I don’t buy the idea these criminals are all victims of some sort and deserve our compassion. My compassion goes to the hard-working, good citizens
who are the victims of criminal activity.

  2. I’m not a “sky is falling” type but it is hard to believe crime is down. Perhaps some types of violent crimes may be down but it is evident that street crime is either on on par with prior years or escalating. Don’t ask why, I have no idea.
