Firefighters were kept busy and their equipment kept humming Wednesday as troublesome and separate grass fires broke out near Blackhawk and in Martinez.
No injuries were reported though a bulldozer on weed abatement duty in the area of the Blackhawk blaze was lost in the flames. Helicopters ferried in water to both blazes, dipping into the waters of the Martinez Marina and a golf course near Blackhawk in order to help douse that blaze.
