10:00 am – 2:00 pm
John Muir National Historic Site
We’re hosting a BioBlitz in conjunction with hundreds of other such events taking place across the country in celebration of the National Park Service Centennial! This will be a great opportunity to connect individuals with their public lands and especially with some of the many wonderful California native species found at John Muir NHS!
A BioBlitz is a 24-hour species inventory where the goal is to observe and record as many species (of all taxa) as possible. Experts will lead groups out and around the John Muir NHS property on specific surveys or individuals can go out on self-guided hikes and record any species they see through the iNaturalist app or by snapping photos. It will be a wonderful day with a variety of fun scientific opportunities for all ages. And, if you’ve ever participated in a BioBlitz before, you know to look forward to the BioBlitz Dance!
Interested parties should register either by visiting this link http://tinyurl.com/BioBlitz-John-Muir or by calling 925-228-8860, however drop-ins are welcome.
