A 55-year-old Albany resident died after her car collided with a truck in wet weather conditions on I-680 in Danville Friday.

The accident, covered as it happened on this site’s Facebook Page, occurred at 11:02 a.m. in the southbound lanes south of Sycamore Valley Road.

Investigators said the woman lost control of her Toyota sedan as she was driving in rainy weather, the car spinning out across the southbound lanes and into the path of a Ford truck – pulling a small trailer at the time. The truck struck the skidding Toyota broadside, according to police, before both vehicles impacted with a retaining wall.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to John Muir Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead hours later. The driver of the truck, a 38-year-old Concord man, was uninjured.
