A glorious Spring day in the 24/680 was marred by a series of crashes and mishaps, the latest of which is taking place as we write (8:59 p.m.) in the parking lot of the Danville Safeway at 3496 Camino Tassajara.

Valley Fire crews are tending to at least one person reportedly ejected from a vintage ’32 Ford coupe after it the car struck a light pole while reportedly “burning rubber” in the store parking lot.

One person is being rushed to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek at this moment. Another person is also being treated for unspecified injuries. Witnesses said a male and female of undetermined age were in the car, reportedly with the female behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

The 8:42 p.m. collision capped a beautiful but strange day which saw a number of crashes and mishaps, including another crash at the Lafayette Reservoir. East Bay Regional Park District police and county fire personnel responded to that scene at 5:25 p.m.

At least one structure fire and several other crashes were also reported, at least one requiring extrication of the occupants.

  1. More people out and about means more things that can go wrong. It does seem that there are a lot of things going wrong though.
