Nagging Noise, An Almost Burglary, IRS Scam Underway: Moraga Crime Reports

Here we go with another week’s worth of hair-raising crime reports filed from that seething nexus of underworld activity: Moraga, Calif.

“If You Listen Long Enough, It Sounds Like The Ocean…”

Residents on Ascot Drive and Moraga Road contacted the local gendarmes in separate incidents involving nagging noise last week. Officers did their best to track the offenders and did, in one case, told that one of the reporting parties was “sensitive” – but still agreeing to turn the music down. As they say, one man’s music is another man’s noise.

The “Almost” Burglary

A Lynwood Drive homeowner called police Feb. 19 to report that someone appeared to have entered the residence – but did not take anything. Police reported finding no leads and classified the occurrence as “under investigation.”

Tax Crooks Remember To File Early

A Peralta Court resident called police to report someone filing a tax return in her name Monday. The Internal Revenue Service suggested she contact local law enforcement so the investigative chain would be preserved and she did so. The IRS suggested the resident also contact the Federal Trade Commission. Look for more of this scam in the days to come.
