Moraga police arrested a suspected auto thief at gunpoint in front of the Moraga Center Wednesday, a day after the same arresting officer spotted the suspect’s car driving down Moraga Road.
Acting Chief of Police Jon King said the officer initially spotted the Acura on Moraga Road on Tuesday and determined that the car had been stolen through a computer check.
“However, he was unable to get turned around and stop the car,” King said.
Today, the same officer spotted the same car once again being driven on Moraga Road near Rheem Blvd. and this time was able to fall in close behind it, confirming that the car had been stolen – reportedly from San Francisco.
Supported by other officers a felony car stop was initiated and the driver, a woman identified as Judaiah Briggs of Vallejo, was arrested without incident in front of 1460 Moraga Rd.
Other Lamorinda officers provided support. Briggs was transported to the Main Detention Facility in Martinez and booked for vehicle theft, according to police.
Good work Moraga Police.
Candidly, this is the type of good work that police officers do *every*single*day* and its normal course of busines for these brave professionals.
I am ever thankful for our police departments and they’re hard, brave work.
