Message From Chief Simpkins: Extra Patrols Net Suspected Burglar In Danville Tuesday

SHARE

To Our Community:

With the significant increase in property crime over the last year the Danville Police Department has been hard at work trying to stem the tide. Among other tactics, we have been putting extra officers on patrol, using crime data to specifically patrol the most likely areas that might be targeted by criminals.

Last night our officers had some success: Micah Casey, 24, Castro Valley, was arrested for possession of burglary tools, possession of a dirk/dagger, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Casey was arrested after a traffic stop made at 4:06 a.m. by our extra officers working the targeted enforcement, and later booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.

While arrests like this one are a step in the right direction, we want all of our residents to know that we are working very hard to overcome the increase in crime. As community members you play a critical role in the process; we appreciate your help in keeping a watchful eye on your neighborhoods. Now more than ever, it is extremely helpful for you to call us when you see something out of place in your neighborhood.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns,

Steve Simpkins, Chief of Police

  1. Bravo to the Danville PD for the results, and to Chief Simpkins for the transparent and timely communication with the public. Both are seemingly strongly desired by the citizens of the various Lamorinda towns and neighboring communities.
