Walnut Creek Police Officer Injured While Directing Traffic Thursday

Walnut Creek police say one of their officers was struck by a passing car while directly traffic at the scene of an accident Thursday.

Officers said the incident occurred at approximately 4:40 p.m., when the officer was struck by a passing motorist, forced onto the hood of the vehicle then back onto the roadway.

Police said the unidentified officer was was transported to John Muir Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The motorist told investigating officers that he simply did not see the officer when driving past the accident scene.
