California Highway Patrol investigators are working to determine what caused a pickup truck to leave San Pablo Dam Road just north of Camino Pablo Saturday night at 10:58 p.m., plunging down an embankment and into a tree.
CHP Officer John Fransen said San Rafael resident Benjamin Drew sustained fatal injuries in the single vehicle crash.
Drew was traveling on San Pablo Dam Road, north of Camino Pablo when for some reason his 1992 Nissan pickup truck veered into the opposing lane of traffic and went off the roadway, Fransen said. After plowing through brush the pick up truck collided with a metal pole and several trees before overturning multiple times and coming to rest down an embankment.
This traffic collision is still pending further investigation. If anyone witnessed this collision or events leading up to it, please call the CHP at 925.646.4980.
Saw them looking for the car I guess when we came home that night. Horrible. So many of these lately
An awful lot of these accidents lately.
My one big fear driving at night aside from hitting a deer is that someone will veer into my lane last minute. I have lost relatives that way and it is senseless.
How awful. This has been a bad week.
The Holidays can be brutal. Sounds like they are.
Heard the sirens from today in Danville. Is this an unusual situation for police or is this normal this time of year??
Condolences to his family and friends.
That can be a tricky turn in there.
