Readers are reporting a major flooding condition resulting from a broken water main at Reliez Station Road and Olympic Blvd. with traffic being re-routed through the area.
East Bay MUD and the Red Cross have both been notified as firefighters, public works personnel and police officers are on the scene but, so far, unable to stem the flow. The leak and resultant flooding was first reported at 4:29 p.m.
Thirty-five East Bay Municipal Utility District customers were left without water after the 16-inch water main broke in the 800 block of Reliez Station Road.
Customers may be without water for as long as 16 hours, workers at the scene said Friday.
I hope EBMUD publishes the name of every employee who failed to catch this defective water main since they caused the waste of so much water.
