Moraga police are searching for a silver Toyota Camry with three men aboard who entered and robbed a local home Thursday morning.

Police are looking for three black men wearing hoodies and apparently armed, who robbed the residents of a home on Via Granada in the town’s Campolindo neighborhood at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, herding the residents into a bathroom while the home was ransacked.

Police said the homeowner was confronted by three armed black males who were driving a silver late model Toyota Camry. All of the males were wearing masks and were armed with guns. The suspects left the area in an unknown direction. The victims were not injured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Moraga Police at 925-888-7055. Also, if you live in the area and have a surveillance system, please check your recordings from this morning, starting before 7:00 a.m., for any suspicious persons or the described vehicle.

Thursday’s incident follows another, similar robbery at a Danville home in which guns were taken Monday.

In that case, a silver sedan was also believed involved with two thieves seen by a homeowner who reported one brandished a gun while fleeing the residence.

  1. Stay safe in Moraga. Until there are more details, it’s hard to tell whether it’s random or not. Guns could just be armed homeowners. Or something else.

  2. Saw the 2 Moraga PD squad cars, suv and a another car heading up Campolindo Drive…. wow. Glad everyone is ok

    • We are, too, Robert. You don’t happen to have a home surveillance system do you? We think the police would be interested in anything you captured on your street prior to the robbery… Be well!

  3. I thought Lafayette did and Orinda was thinking about taking a picture of the cars going through their towns. Since you mostly have to go through there to get to Moraga, are those cameras of use? Or do they just take pictures of the downtown and not the commuter streets?

    • Great question, Nap, and we’re sure MPD is talking with their camera-equipped colleagues on this one. We’ll see what crops up…

    • Seems to be an argument brewing for that. If it comes to pass, Moraga would be the last Lamorinda ville to adopt them…

  4. Although, thankfully, no guns were discharged, as a crime statistic does this constitute a “violent crime” or a generic buglary?

    • We defer to our neighbors in blue and badges but this seems to come under the heading of “Armed Robbery” as opposed to generic burglary…

  5. I guess on Oct. 28 the town council did an opening ceremony for their new place with a remodeling cost of about $1.1 million. Perhaps the money could have gone toward other services such as police, or security cameras, or something. But it didn’t. I haven’t been there yet but the pictures of the drought-tolerant landscaping look nice.

  6. 2 Orinda PD vehicles just flew up Country Club to Sandringham (in Moraga) and back down. In hot pursuit of somebody.

    • Morning, David… we’re on it, just issued our flash alerts on a suspected burglar and resultant pursuit of same. Updating shortly. Busy morning…
