Danville police, assisted by deputies from the Valley division of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s office, responded to San Ramon Valley High School Tuesday after a “threat scenario” arose at the school.
A 16-year-old Alamo teen was detained by police and is being questioned. The student was found off campus at around noon after the School Resource Officer was informed of a threat of violence by one student against another, according to Police Chief Steve Simpkins.
No weapons of any kind were located, Simpkins said.
“We had reason to believe that the threat against the student was credible enough to warrant the district placing the school on lockdown. In a situation of that sort, it is best to be cautious.” He added, “We appreciate the patience and support of the community as we resolved this situation as safely and quickly as possible. I cannot stress strongly enough that the safety of our youth is of paramount importance to us.”
I miss the days when it was safe to go to school.
Heard a helicopter?? Poor kids.
Not good. Was a weapon found? So soon after the Antioch shooting incident. School is a very different experience these days.
@Brinn — The article states: “No weapons of any kind were located, Simpkins said.”
Right, but we believe Brinn posted before that information was determined.
