Martinez Traffic Stop Yields Drugs, Handgun

An Antioch man was arrested on suspicion of drug and gun violations early this morning during a traffic stop in Martinez, according to police.

Around 12:30 a.m. officers stopped Troy Matthews in the 3500 block of Pacheco Boulevard.

Matthews was allegedly found to be in possession of a loaded pistol with the serial number removed.

He was also allegedly carrying more than 6 grams of methamphetamine and $1,500 cash. Officers also seized the man’s cellphone, according to police.

Matthews was booked into jail on $240,000 bail.

  1. These seems to happen with some regularity. Is it pretty common for police to find people with guns on them like this??

  2. Wow. Low level dealer has $240K bail? That’s not a lot of drugs or money. Must be a repeat offender.
