On the Orinda police log this week was this cryptic entry:
CORGI HAZARD, MIRAMONTE HIGH SCHOOL
Initial guesses by NEWS24/680 staffers used to police acronyms but unfamiliar with this one ranged from Cheerleader Over-Reaching Gainer Injury to Citizen Overcome by Rampant Gas Incident.
Neither proved correct, of course, as Chief Mark Nagel set us straight, reporting that an Orinda resident called police to report they saw a Corgi – a Queen Elizabeth-type Corgi – crossing the street near the school.
“Probably worried about it being hit,” the chief said.
As far as we and the OPD have been able to figure out, our Corgi made it safely across the road – and into the police log.
