East Bay Regional Park rangers and firefighters from the Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District responded to Golf Course Road in Tilden Regional Park after rangers reported live wires down and a bicyclist down and unmoving nearby Sunday.

The call came in at about 11:10 a.m. MOFD firefighters and park rangers said the cyclist, who was wearing a helmet, came around the corner “at speed” and put his bicycle down to avoid the tangle of tree limbs and wires in front of him.

Battalion Chief Sean Perkins said the cyclist suffered abrasions from his fall and was taken to a local hospital but did not come into contact with the wires – which were live – in any way.

PG&E workers arrived on the scene at 11:35 p.m. to de-energize the lines.
