Our Tip Line grew white hot shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday after Walnut Creek police attempted to stop a car traveling without license plates near Parkside Drive in the city and a short chase ensued.
Officers said the pursuit ended with the female driver and a male passenger jumping from the car and fleeing into the surrounding neighborhood. Worried residents seeing police in their neighborhood were told to stay inside and keep their doors locked.
Police eventually determined that the car had been stolen out of Lafayette with additional stolen property located inside.
A CHP helicopter, a Concord PD canine team, and WCPD’s own canine unit was brought into the area and the passenger, Aaron Thompson, 35, of Walnut Creek was located nearby.
Thompson was arrested for possession of stolen property and several outstanding warrants. Additional charges are pending, according to police. The female driver was not located but has been identified.
