Fans of characters and salty old guys as we are NEWS24-680 was saddened to hear of the death of Leonard Robinson, better known in Maryland as “Baltimore Batman,” a popular local figure who spent his time dressing as his favorite superhero and visiting kids in local hospitals.
Robinson, 51, was killed Sunday after being struck by a Toyota Camry while standing in the fast lane of I-70 in Maryland – his trademark Lamborghini-Batmobile disabled by engine trouble.
Robinson became an Internet sensation in 2012 when police pulled his custom Batmobile over because it bore a Batman logo instead of required license plates – touching off a charming exchange between officers and superhero that eventually went viral.
Sad to see him go. The world – and sick kids in Baltimore – need more like him.
