4.0 Earthquake Rolls Through East Bay Monday

Police and fire officials sent personnel to check on East Bay infrastructure after a sharp 4.0 earthquake shook the East Bay awake at 6:49 a.m. Monday.

Officials at the USGS said the quake was epicentered on the Hayward Fault near Piedmont, CA.

Officials are taking the usual post-quake precautions, including checking BART and rail tracks for warpage. There are no reports of damage, as yet.

  1. I just worry it’s a sign of a bigger one around the corner occurring on that fault line. A big one on that fault line will be bad news.
