“Bears” Mining Cars For Goodies In Danville

Lafayette Police Chief Eric Christensen calls the midnight marauders stealing from cars in his city “Bears” who come to the area to rummage through his citizenry’s cars for valuables.

The problem has spiked of late, local police have noted, and Danville has not escaped the attention of the bad guys.

Here’s a breakdown of crimes handled by the men and women of the Danville police department last week and we’ll think you’ll see that the bears were out in force.

Auto Theft

Auto Burglary

  • Aug. 2 – 9:29 a.m., 600 block of Derbyshire Pl.
  • Aug. 4 – 12:34 p.m., 1000 block of Sunshine Cr.

Theft from Vehicle

  • Aug. 2 – 9:02 a.m., 600 block Brookside Dr.
  • Aug. 4 – 8:09 p.m., 10 block of Ross Ct.
  • Aug. 8 – 10:04 a.m., 300 block of Estates Dr.
