Swimmers Go “Full Speed Ahead” at OMPA Championships
Nearly 2,000 young athletes will close out their summer break by swimming “Full Speed Ahead” in one of the largest recreational swim meets in the country. The 59th Annual OMPA Championship Swim Meet will run Aug. 7 – 9, at Campolindo High School’s Soda Aquatic Center, in Moraga. This year’s theme, “Full Speed Ahead,” is a call to all swimmers to do their best in the spirit of friendly competition and sportsmanship.
“The athletes assembled for this meet have dedicated their summers to training and team building,” said Tom VonderBrink, Orinda-Moraga Pool Association President. “The OMPA Championship Meet is where their hard work will shine and we look forward to celebrating every swimmer’s best effort.”
In recognition of the countless volunteers, coaches, swimmers, parents, and community partners whose dedication and efforts make this community-centered event possible, the Moraga Town Council and the Orinda City Council have proclaimed Aug. 7, 8, and 9, to be “Full Speed Ahead Weekend.” (photo available)
