Orinda Police Chief Mark Nagel just forwarded his team’s crime reports for the week and there appears to have been more action than usual in our usually sedate community, with a local business beefing up its security – and seeing results.
And NEWS24-680 was seeing the result of those results as our Tip Line lit up with reports of would-be thieves finding that the Five-Fingered Discount wasn’t working and was ending up with a Clean Up On Aisle Three…

Fight/Disturbance
- July 27 – 13:59 p.m., Arrest in front of CitiBank, 37 Orinda Way, after a gentleman allegedly attempted to abscond with some alcohol from Safeway and loss prevention people said “we don’t think so.” First reported as it happened on our Facebook Page.
- July 28 – 7:34 p.m., Arrest in the 20 block of Orinda Way.
Car Theft
- July 30 – 11:38 p.m., Recovery of stolen car and Arrest, Orinda Shell Station
Auto Burglary
- July 27 – 3:38 p.m., Northwood Dr. at Davis Rd.
- July 30 – 2:10 p.m., 20 block of Tara Rd.
Petty Theft/Shoplift
- July 28 – 3:51 p.m., Arrest, Orinda Safeway
Suspicious Person
- July 30 – 6:38 p.m., Orinda Safeway
