  1. Thanks again for posting this! I’m so impressed by how many pageviews this posting is getting, woo hoo!!

I’ve recently received reports of a cat possibly matching Timothy Leadbelly’s description being seen in or around the Main Chance properties in Walnut Creek — off Jones Road near Parkside. I distributed some picture postcards of him to 25 residences in that complex since then.

If anyone reading this knows people who live in the Main Chance area, or who are active in that HOA, and who can help spread the word to neighbors in that area about Timothy Leadbelly, that would be great! I also continue to reach out via craigslist, nextdoor.com, Facebook, etc.

Timothy Leadbelly’s Facebook page can be seen at https://www.facebook.com/timothyleadbelly

Still no smartphone photos received of Timothy — also known as Big Timmay, Timmer-Bimmers, Big Boy, Big Kitty Boy, you get the picture! — but I continue to hold out hope. Smartphone sightings are hugely helpful, even if they’re of the “wrong” cat, so that I know what outdoor-access tabby cats are in my area… and boy, there are a number of them.

The trick is that my cat tends to be shy around strangers, but he may respond to the dinnertime call “Fressssshhhh kitty crunchies! Fressssshhhh crunchies!” He used to barrel down the hallway in response to me making that sound. Fastest he’d ever move 😉 …

  2. Update: A similar-looking cat has been reported in and around Ashford Court — near Oak Road — in Walnut Creek, but that cat is smaller than Timothy Leadbelly and has “caramel” coloring on its sides, which Timothy does not have. A Good Samaritan has been feeding that cat and is trying to find its owner. That cat may also have been visiting Northwoods Complex off Jones Road.

I’m still hoping for SMARTPHONE sightings of my missing gray-and-white tuxedo tabby cat amid my searches in the area, online, and on animal shelter websites, etc.

Thanks to anyone who is reading this and keeping an eye out!

  3. Another cat that is EXTREMELY similar to mine in appearance is currently at the Oakland animal shelter. Virtually identical color and pattern … but with longer fur, and is smaller and probably younger than my cat.

But thanks to the craigslist person — a fellow owner of a missing cat — who emailed me about him!

We owners of missing animals cover a lot of ground ourselves in our searches for our beloved animals … but every added hand and extra pair of eyes are beneficial, too. 🙂

  4. Still searching/still hoping! I am not giving up on my beloved goofball of a kitty-cat.

Readers: do you know anyone who has taken in a cat matching Timothy Leadbelly’s description since Christmas? He’s a very large, green-eyed, pink-nosed ‘tuxedo’ tabby — gray with dark striping, and a white chin, chest, stomach, front paws, and back legs. I keep thinking that someone who isn’t online and isn’t seeing my many notices and updates on various websites may have adopted or re-homed or re-located him. A lookalike cat has been seen as far away as Albany, California… but the odds are that my cat is closer to home in Walnut Creek.

I AM OFFERING A $200 REWARD for Timothy Leadbelly’s return or for reliable information leading to his safe recovery.

Smartphone sightings, Facebook Shares, and any tips or leads are appreciated. You can see Timothy Leadbelly’s Facebook page here –> https://www.facebook.com/timothyleadbelly

Thanks for reading, and for anything you can do to spread the word to neighbors, family and friends, whether through NextDoor.com, Facebook, conversations, emails, whatever you can do.

    THANKS!!!!

  5. Alas, my boy-cat is still missing! Against all odds, I am still looking, and still hoping to find him.

Despite his size, he’s a shy cat who would never go out on the sidewalk, let alone the street, so I don’t think he met with an untimely fate. However, he used to go over the fence to visit another condo complex, where at least 2 residents regularly put out food for cats. It’s possible that someone over there took him in, or moved him far away. Or perhaps another cat in that complex scared him off somehow. During my search, I have come to realize that many of the same cats in the area consider several neighboring complexes to be part of their turf.

QUESTION TO ANY READERS: Does anyone recognize this cat, or know of someone who has taken in a cat that looks like him since Christmas of last year? I would be so relieved if I could get proof that he is alive and well !

    Thanks for reading —

  6. >>>> SEEKING CLOSURE on the fate of Timothy Leadbelly <<<<<

I am seeking closure on the fate of my long-missing gray-and-white tuxedo tabby cat.

If someone took Timothy Leadbelly in and doesn't want to give him up, I get that. At this point, after 8 months of searching and wondering and hoping and worrying, I would settle for having proof that he is in a stable, loving home. I would hate to give him up, but if someone is loving him and spoiling him, that's the most important thing. His welfare is what matters most. Perhaps we could even arrange a co-housing situation or a pet-sitting situation, but, again, what's really important is his health and well-being.

Alternatively, if someone has reliable information that Timothy Leadbelly is deceased, even that information would be useful.

The not knowing what has happened to him is so hard.

Thank you to anyone who may be reading this and who may be keeping an eye out for him.

You can see more information about Timothy Leadbelly on the Facebook page that I created for him as part of my widespread search.

  7. More verbal sightings received this week of one or more cats resembling Timothy Leadbelly, in the Northwoods complex on Jones Road in Walnut Creek, and in the large Main Chance Estates area off Jones Road — in the Main Chance section and also on Pimlico, near Preakness.

However, there apparently is a female gray-and-white tuxedo cat in that area who has outdoor access so it’s unclear which cat people are seeing.

No smartphone photos received yet of these latest sightings but I keep hoping!

Thanks to people who continue to keep an eye out as my search continues for my big Timothy Leadbelly!

  8. The search continues for Timothy Leadbelly! I’ve received reports of several possible sightings in the Main Chance area of Walnut Creek since June, but, alas, still no smartphone photos. I personally have seen 2 similar-looking cats in that area or along Jones near Parkside and Pimlico, but they’re smaller and have collars, while Timothy did not, at least not when I owned him. It’s always possible that someone has taken him in or re-homed him and that he has a collar now. But he’s a big, big boy!

Thanks to anyone who may be reading these updates and helping to keep a lookout!

  9. I received a voicemail message 2 nights ago from someone who thinks she may have seen my cat on or near Civic Drive in Walnut Creek.

Unfortunately, the number was “blocked,” so I have no way of calling back for a more precise location, and the person has not called back yet.

If anyone is reading this and can keep an eye out in the Civic Drive area, I would greatly appreciate it. As always, smartphone cat sightings are ideal! … And I’m still offering a $200 reward for my cat’s return or for reliable information leading to his recovery.

    Thanks for reading!

  10. I’ve posted some Still Missing color postcards of Timothy Leadbelly up and down Civic Drive in Walnut Creek after receiving a call from someone with a blocked phone number saying that someone in The Keys complex on Civic may have adopted a cat resembling Timothy this summer after that cat had been hanging around The Keys. It seems too far for him to have traveled, but then again, he’s been gone so long, he could be anywhere by now.

Where o where is my Big Timmay [one of his many nicknames]? I think of him every day and wish I knew what has happened to him.

As always, SMARTPHONE SIGHTINGS, verbal reports, and Shares of his Facebook page postings, and anything that people can do to get the word out are all greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

  11. Turns out the cat seen in The Keys might have markings more similar to a raccoon, according to a Good Samaritan who emailed me this week.

Then again, there could be more than one tabby visiting that complex.

Since Timothy Leadbelly has gone missing, I’ve become “acquainted” with a LOT of indoor-outdoor tabby cats and/or lost cats in my area. … but I am always happy to receive even more smartphone photos, verbal reports, and other leads, as well as Facebook Shares of my postings about Timothy Leadbelly.

    https://www.facebook.com/timothyleadbelly

I heard today, through an animal shelter worker, of a cat that was found after being missing for FOUR months. He’d gone missing in Daly City and was found in San Jose. It’s stories like those that give me hope.

    Thanks for reading!

  12. ******REWARD REWARD REWARD REWARD REWARD **********

REMINDER: I am offering a REWARD for the return of my missing tuxedo tabby cat, Timothy Leadbelly, or for reliable information leading to his safe recovery.

Anyone reading this: Please Share this article on Facebook and also help spread the word to your cat-loving friends in the San Francisco Bay Area that I am still looking for my beloved cat, whom I have had since he was 2 months old. (He is now between 8 and 9 years old.)

Who has seen him, been feeding him, or perhaps adopted, re-homed or re-located Timothy Leadbelly? He went missing on Christmas night 2014 in the 2600 block of Jones in Walnut Creek. ANY SMARTPHONE CAT SIGHTINGS APPRECIATED, even if you’re not sure the cat is Timothy.

Thank you for reading, and for any help spreading the word!

  13. Possible sighting TODAY by a resident of Jones Place in Walnut Creek. The cat she saw may have jumped the fence to The Grove residences on El Paseo Circle.

Has anyone at either of those addresses seen a cat matching Timothy Leadbelly’s description? If so. please take a smartphone photo and send to me – thanks!

(I’ve also posted a similar message on NextDoor and Facebook.)

  14. Alas, NO additional sightings on Jones Place or around El Paseo Circle since the one received on Dec. 27.

Still no smartphone photos of Timothy Leadbelly, either.

    The hunt continues!

  15. Sighting of lookalike cat in ANTIOCH this week. Could it be Timothy Leadbelly? The odds are against it, but then again, he’s been missing so long, could he have been re-homed or re-located?

As always, all smartphone photos, leads, tips, suggestions, Facebook Shares, etc., appreciated!

**REWARD** still being offered for his safe return or reliable information on his whereabouts.

  16. $$$$ REWARD REWARD REWARD REWARD REWARD $$$$$

REMINDER: I am offering a LARGE REWARD for the return of my missing tuxedo tabby cat, Timothy Leadbelly, or for reliable information leading to his safe recovery.

PLEASE ASK AROUND.

… I have posted neighborhood flyers, delivered flyers and postcards door to door, done night searches, re-posted notices on craigslist and social media, run paid ads – but I can use all the help I can get in spreading the word, keeping an eye out, and asking others if they have seen such a cat or know of someone who has adopted such a cat since Christmas night 2014.

    THANKS FOR READING.

  17. Who has Timothy Leadbelly or has seen him?

I’m on the verge of dressing up in a cat costume (not to be confused with an Avengers-style catsuit, heh) or paying for skywriting to get out the word and find my big gray-and-white tuxedo tabby cat. I have tried almost everything else.

LARGE REWARD OFFERED for his return or for reliable information leading to his recovery. No questions asked.

SMARTPHONE PHOTOS OF CAT SIGHTINGS ARE ESPECIALLY HELPFUL.

  18. Received word this week of a gray tabby cat sighting in the area around Las Juntas in Walnut Creek. Anyone reading this know of a “stray” gray-and-white tuxedo tabby cat in that area?

REWARD offered for Timothy Leadbelly’s return or information leading to his recovery.

  19. Is there a stray gray tabby cat in Avalon Walnut Ridge near Pleasant Hill BART? A NextDoor tip indicates yes, but could it be Timothy Leadbelly? It’s hard to say, without a smartphone photo.

Timothy Leadbelly is a large tuxedo tabby — he looks mainly gray when seen from above or the sides, but he has white on his nose, chin, chest, front paws, and back legs. He has green eyes and a pink nose.

As ever, all leads, tips, and SMARTPHONE SIGHTINGS are appreciated. Thanks for keeping an eye out! 🙂

  20. UPDATE: Possible sightings in Walnut Ridge condo complex (near Pleasant Hill BART station) in recent weeks, although I haven’t received any smartphone photos yet in response to my posted photo postcards, so the sightings may be of a local cat with outdoor privileges, or could be a different lost gray tabby cat. Still, fingers crossed. The search continues!

  21. POSSIBLE SIGHTING by a Good Samaritan near Las Juntas and Greenwood in Walnut Creek, but NO photo received, so oodness knows it could be one of a bazillion (?) other gray tabby cats in the world.

Timothy Leadbelly is distinctive for his:

    –LARGE size
–pale-pink nose with white fur down the bridge of the nose
    –angled green eyes
    –shyness
    –large appetite
–habit of walking along your outstretched arm
–response to the call “Fressssh kitty crunchies, fresh crunchies!”

IF SEEN, DO NOT CHASE. INSTEAD, TAKE A SMARTPHONE PHOTO AND SEND TO ME at the email address shown below. Thanks!

  22. STILL SEARCHING… STILL HOPING ..

I read this month about a woman who was reunited with her lost cat after more than 3 years of looking and hoping. The cat was found about 2 miles from home (still with its ID collar), being fed by an elderly couple in a condo complex. Could my search for my shy Timothy Leadbelly have a similar ending?

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND ASK NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS AND CO-WORKERS IN WALNUT CREEK if they are feeding a cat that looks like Timothy Leadbelly. Thanks!

  23. I just received a second-hand report of a sighting by someone who lives in the area of Walnut Boulevard and Oro Valley Circle (in Walnut Creek, near Mountain View Boulevard and the Shell Ridge Open Space), of a skinnier-looking version of my long-lost gray-and-white tuxedo tabby, Timothy Leadbelly. It’s a long way from home so the odds may be against the cat being Timothy Leadbelly, but then again, he’s been missing for more than a year (I’m still looking for him!), so he could be anywhere by now!

If anyone who lives in that area can keep a lookout, that would be great!

As always, smartphone photos of cat sightings are a HUGE help, even if taken from a distance, since I can typically enlarge or zoom in on the photos. The cat photos can be sent to my hotmail account. Thanks!!

  24. ***STILL MISSING …. STILL HOPING … STILL TRYING … STILL PRAYING … ***

REWARD OFFERED for reliable information leading to Timothy Leadbelly’s whereabouts or for the return of Timothy Leadbelly (plus any vet fees incurred), no questions asked.

Thanks to anyone who is reading these posts and helping to keep an eye out or spread the word to others.

    https://www.facebook.com/timothyleadbelly/

  25. Thanks to folks for the recent flurry of Facebook Shares of my re-posting of Timothy Leadbelly’s information and this Critter Alert to Fido Alert Claycord. This means so much to me! 🙂 … I keep trying various search techniques and social media “broadcast” systems on my own, but, at the same time, I can use all the help I can get. Sometimes it really does take a village to help bring a lost pet back home. Who knows which tip or smartphone sighting or other lead will be The One that enables me to recover Timothy Leadbelly after these many months of searching and hoping?

  26. ******REWARD $$$$$ REWARD $$$$$ REWARD $$$$$ REWARD $$$$$ REWARD $$$$$*****

REWARD OFFERED for the return of Timothy Leadbelly or for reliable information leading to his whereabouts.

    All tips, leads, etc., appreciated.

    SMARTPHONE SIGHTINGS especially useful.

  27. ****UPDATE: **** POSSIBLE SIGHTINGS this past week by a neighbor in the area of Bonnie Lane and Bonnie Court in Pleasant Hill. This would be close to Belle Avenue, the site of another (also unconfirmed) sighting by another neighbor some months ago. If anyone reading this lives in that area, visits that area, or knows someone who is in that area, and is able to get a smartphone photo of a large, wandering gray-and-white tabby cat that might be Timothy Leadbelly, that would be a huge help as I continue the search for my big boy cat. Thanks! (Any smartphone photos can be emailed to me at the email address in the link below.)

  28. STILL MISSING.

    STILL HOPING.

$$$$$$$$ REWARD OFFERED $$$$$$$$$$ for the return of Timothy Leadbelly or for information leading to his whereabouts or recovery.

  29. Timothy Leadbelly is still missing. Has someone adopted him without knowing that I have been looking for him for more than two years? I continue to check PetHarbor, craigslist, Facebook, NextDoor and other websites every day, hoping to see a Found listing for him.

As ever, all Facebook Shares, tips, or smartphone cat sightings are appreciated.
