One person was killed in an early Sunday morning crash on eastbound Highway 24 near the St. Stephens offramp in Orinda, first responders have reported.
A 36-year-old man San Francisco man, Andrew Tanner, was identified as the man killed in the crash. Investigators said he was driving east in the fast lane just before 3 a.m. when he drifted into the center divider, hit the guardrail and sent his white 2004 Lexus SC430 down an embankment and into the air, the CHP said.
The car hit a tree and ejected Tanner, the CHP said, the car landing on Tanner as it came to rest. He was found partially pinned under his car on the north side of the freeway and pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
It was crazy out there last night. We must have seen three wrecks from SF back home.
condolences to this persons family
