Folks taking the night air near Chipotle in Walnut Creek about 10 p.m. last night experienced an uncomfortable moment with a pliant, colorful cartoon character with an unusual method for gaining attention.
A reader who was there said Gumby (remember him?) walked into Chipotles and “at the top of lungs in a strong voice yelled “EVERYBODY!” – and then stood still for about 30 seconds, just staring at everyone as they just stared back uncomfortably.
Witnesses said they were waiting for Gumby to finish with “… down on the floor!” and there was a deer in the headlights moment of indecision before a customer walked up, told Gumby he was lucky he didn’t have his gun or he would have air conditioned his suit for him.
An employee and another customer helped Gumby out the door. He was last seen wandering around downtown.
